At Hoehn Plastics, Inc. we take quality serious. We check the quality of all material coming in as well as going out. We have a standard battery of tests that we run and are capable of performing additional tests at our customer’s request.
The following are the standard tests preformed on virtually all incoming materials and outgoing materials.
Appearance – A visual inspection of regrind or pellets as well as a molded plaque for bumps, moisture, lamination, splay, and porosity.
Melt Flow Index – The amount of a thermoplastic resin, measured in grams, which can be forced through a specific orifice within ten minutes when subjected to a specific force.
Notched Izod – This is a single point test that measures a materials impact from a swinging pendulum. Izod impact is defined as the kenetic energy needed to initiate fracture and continue the fracture until the specimen is broken.
Specific Gravity/Density – Measures a materials weight relative to water.
Ash Content – This test is to determine the percentage of inorganic content of plastic by destructive ashing procedures.
Durometer – This is a test for hardness of plastic. This test is done on either a Shore A or Shore D scale.
